A Life’s journey – a woman, a mum, a barefooted battle-scarred warrior. Determination, dignity, compassion, suffering, love, courage – it’s all there. Dave has so brilliantly captured the power of the human spirit. This work of art is stunning and has a “presence”, a life of its own. It has been touring the nation since 2010 –inspiring and mesmerising its audiences while educating the public of the work that needs to be done. I’m so indebted to Dave for his generosity and will always be in awe of his extraordinary talent.

Dave Thomas was the panel's only interview for my portrait, and by account, it took all of five minutes to declare he was the artist for my portrait. Spending time with Dave was a very enjoyable experience as he is incredibly friendly, funny and a joy to be around. His personality enabled me to speak about my self as I had never done before. The experience was most enjoyable and the resulting portrait truly captured my depth. This point was enforced by both my colleagues and my family.

The Hon. Leo McLeay was an enigmatic figure of Australian Government for decades. He was in incredibly strong man with absolute integrity. He was also a soft, kind and approachable fellow whose demeanour had an impact on those around him and The House in general. He is fondly remembered as a major contributor to the positive direction of Australian Government. Dave Thomas was able to capture all of these qualities in his piece, simply by spending a few hours with Leo and getting to know the personality, within the person. Dave Thomas and his manager are impeccably professional and have a very genuine way of making the process simple and enjoyable.

Having my portrait painted by Dave Thomas was a most enjoyable experience. He quickly put me at ease and talked about what I hoped the portrait would convey - the discussions that ensued were relaxed, professional and positive.
