DAVE THOMAS ART
Renowned portrait artist, Dave Thomas was born in Wales, in 1950. He studied fine art in Welsh and English colleges during the 1970’s and his reputation soon led to a wave of high profile portrait commissions.
In the early 1980’s, in order to progress his artistic assessment and technique he travelled the world. His quest landed him in Italy where he was soon appointed Head of the Art Department of the prestigious, International School of Milan.
After serving his term in Italy, he again ventured out as a freelance artist with many prestigious galleries exhibiting his work worldwide.
Dave’s journey again took him across the globe but he managed to find his inspiration in the NSW Southern Highlands town of Bowral, the spiritual home of Sir Donald Bradman.
Since settling in Australia, Dave has been a much sort after portrait artist fielding numerous commissions from a wide array of sectors. He is a finalist in the ‘Archibald Prize' and twice finalist in the 'Doug Moran National Portrait Prize'. His portraits are housed in many esteemed venues across the country including Parliament House, Canberra.
Dave’s profile is well known across the sporting entities of the country’s east coast but his true critical acclaim lies in the portrait world.
